Summer in the Minors

As we begin our Summer in the Minors series on Father’s Day, the prophet Micah confronts a question that is just as relevant today as it was nearly 2,700 years ago: What does God actually want from His people? In a culture marked by corruption, greed, injustice, and spiritual compromise, Micah courageously spoke truth when others wanted comfortable lies. While many prophets were telling people what they wanted to hear, Micah called God’s people back to faithfulness. His message was not merely about religious rituals or outward appearances—it was about the condition of the heart. Through one of the most famous verses in the Old Testament, Micah reminds us that God’s desire has always been clear: “Do what is right, love mercy, and walk humbly with your God.”

This message challenges us to consider how faithfully we are living out those words in our homes, workplaces, communities, and relationships. Are we pursuing what is truly good according to God’s standards? Are we actively making wrong things right? Do we delight in showing mercy and extending grace to others? Are we walking in humble dependence on God rather than trusting ourselves? On Father’s Day, we’ll explore how these timeless truths provide a powerful blueprint for leading our families, influencing our culture, and following Jesus in a world that desperately needs hope. The same God who called Israel back to Himself through Micah is still calling us today—not just to religious activity, but to lives marked by justice, mercy, humility, and wholehearted obedience.
